The Immigrant Stories projects were grounded in the belief that people whose realities, cultures, races are outside the mainstream often ahve the experience of people within the dominant group telling their stories for them instead of having the opportunity to share their worlds in their own words and images. Providing the tools for people in these communities to give voice, in images and words, what they love about their cultures and worlds affirms their identities, realities, and experiences. When the images and narratives they create are then shared to the wider community, new awareness and critical dialogues and collaborations can be sparked.
